Being accountable

I’ve already pointed out how very, very hard & sucky it is to get out of the warm, comfortable bed before the sun rises to exercise. Especially when everyone is so very cuddly! But I’ve been awake since 3am this morning, when Kade crawled in with us after a nightmare. It’s time for a king sized bed. ‘Nough said.
But because of that, & due to joining a runner’s group, I managed to pry myself outta bed & stumble into the bathroom this morning. I’ve set up my exercise gear in some plastic bins on the bathroom counter-not fashionable, but it’s much quicker & quieter than getting dressed in the bedroom while the men try to sleep!
I met up at the local elementary school (where Kade may or may not be going to kindergarten in the fall) for a short run before I had to be back so Tom could go to work. There were only two of us, the father of two who organized the group & yours truly. Which ended up being more or less as awkward as I expected- & yet not.
I know I run slow, loud, in run/walk fits, & I overheat very quickly so I have to be careful in the layers I wear, even on a rainy or cold day. I’ve avoided finding people to run with because I know how very sucky I am at running, & I don’t want to hold anyone back. For the first half mile we had a good conversation going, & he kept me going faster than I normally would have. I might have made it two full miles but I barely made it home in time as it was, so I just have to get faster in the meantime!
Now I’m at work, & while it’s slightly less crazy than Wednesday was, my mind is still going a million happy miles an hour. Bonus-when I added my exercise into MyFitnessPal, it told me I can basically eat what I want today! (Just kidding, but I can care a tiny bit less). Usually I add what I eat throughout the day, with the thought over my head of “You’d better work out when you get home to earn this cookie/extra bite of cheese/whatever.” But today, nope, already done! Anything else I do is bonus!

(Ignore the laundry, enjoy a fat white lump/cat picture-he’s helping me use the potty, how sweet!)

Tomorrow we’re heading up for a day sledding & mucking about in the snow with my mom’s two Huskies, & nothing burns calories chasing dogs & kid in the cold!

After years of borrowing horses, working to ride and catch riding, I finally have my own horse, a spicy chocolate mare...but also a demanding day job (who doesn't?), a nerdy husband, a soccer loving kid who needs to be parented (by me, duh), and the ultimate trail buddy, a chocolate Labradork!
